TANF Transportation Program
The WFNJ contract has provided the Salem County Board of Social Services
funding for families receiving TANF (Temporary
Assistance to Needy Families). This funding is to be used to
remove barriers to securing employment and to assist families in moving
towards self-sufficiency. For more information call 856-299-7200 and ask
for the Case Management unit.

Kinship Navigator Program
Kinship caregivers – adults who are raising a relative's child(ren) in
their own homes – may qualify for monthly assistance to help support the
children. The Kinship Navigator Program is administered by the NJ
Department of Human Services. For more information on kinship subsidies or
legal guardianship, call the Kinship Navigator at 1-877-816-3211.

Home Energy Assistance (HEA)
Assistance is available to help pay for heating or medically-necessary
cooling costs. Applicants for WFNJ or Food Stamps automatically apply for
HEA when applying for these programs. No other application is necessary.
Other Salem County residents who feel they may qualify for HEA may call
Tri County Community Action Agency at 856-935-7739.

Burial Assistance
Funds may be available for assistance with funeral and burial expenses for
recipients of certain programs and indigent individuals. For more
information call the Adult Medicaid Unit at 856-299-7200 and select option
6 on the menu.

TANF Initiative for Parents (TIP)
The TIP program is for pregnant women and mothers with children under 1
year old. TIP provides classes on a variety of subjects useful to new and
expectant mothers. The classes are held at the Board of Social Services
and provide information and work sessions to assist in parenthood and
adjusting to new or additional responsibilities. |
